Post-surgery manual lymphatic drainage
MLD is the treatment most surgeons ask for after liposuction and other body contouring procedures. Liposuction creates pooling of excess lymphatic fluid, which is what causes the swelling and discomfort afterwards. Draining it is what the treatment is for.
Most people need a course rather than a single session — MLD is priced accordingly, from £90 a session or £750 for ten.
Before you book
Your surgeon comes first. Follow their aftercare instructions, and check with them before starting post-operative treatment — particularly on timing, because how soon MLD should begin depends on the procedure you have had.
If something about your recovery does not feel right — increasing pain, heat, redness, fever, or a wound that opens — contact your surgeon, your GP or NHS 111 straight away rather than booking a massage.
